Journey to the Source of Ganges

Journey to the Source of Ganges

The source of the river Ganges is one of India’s most sacred spots, and while it is popular with Hindu pilgrims, it is rarely visited by travelers from outside India. High in the Himalayas, the mouth of the glacier opens up into a spectacular ice amphitheatre, as the river cascades from beneath it and flows down to the holy temple at Gangotri.

This is perhaps Soul of India’s most adventurous tour, involving several days trekking in high mountains, side by side with Hindu pilgrims and holy men, from the temple to the foot of the glacier, and further above it to a stunning high altitude plateau.

This tour is perfect for those who wish to mix up some adventure and breathtaking mountain scenery in a fascinating religious studies tour of India. Yogis have been meditating in the mountain caves of this region for thousands of years, and this tour makes a great addition to any of our yoga and meditation holidays in India.
