Under the guidance of Canon Tony Fensome, Soul of India is off to explore the wonders of Iran, with its ancient civilisation, vibrant modern culture, famous hospitality and outstanding natural beauty.

We will fly into Shiraz and make our way by road to Tehran – stopping on the way to explore ancient and modern cities, mosques and the ruins of the ancient Persian empire.

London – Shiraz – Persepolis – Yazd – Isfahan – Abyaneh – Tehran – London

Day 01: Saturday 7th April 2018. Fly London to Shiraz

We will meet at Heathrow Terminal 2 to check in for Turkish Airlines flight departing at 11:40 and arriving 02:15 early the following morning (stopover in Istanbul). On arrival at Shiraz we will meet our local guide, board our coach and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Sunday 8th April 2018. Shiraz city tour.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head out with our guide to explore the 4,000 year-old city of Shiraz – with sights including the tombs of Hafez and Saadi, Karim Khan Citadel, Bazaar Vakil, and Shrine of Ali Ibn Hamze. Dinner will be at the hotel.

Day 3: Monday 9th April 2018. Excursion to Persepolis and Necropolis

In the morning we will drive out about an hour to visit Persepolis, the ruins of the first Persian Empire torched by Alexander, and the nearby imperial tombs carved in rock at Naqsh-e Rustam.


Arriving back in Shiraz in the afternoon, we will also visit Qoran Gate and Eram Garden.

Day 4: Tuesday 10th April 2018. Shiraz to Yazd

Today we will leave Shiraz in our coach for Yazd, another ancient city whose history stretches back over 5,000 years. We will break up the 440km journey with a stop at Pasargadae and the tomb of Cyrus the Great.

Day 5: Wednesday 11th April 2018. Yazd City tour

Our guide will show us around Yazd, where there are many sites to squeeze in: the Zoroastrian Fire Temple and Tower of Silence, Dowlat Abad garden, Yazd Water Museum, Jame Mosque, Amir Chakhmagh Façade, Fahadan District and Alexander prison.

Day 6: Thursday 12th April 2018. Yazd to Isfahan

Today we leave Yazd and head off in our private coach to the beautiful city of Isfahan, a place you must visit on any trip to Iran. We will break up the 320km drive with a stop at the old Jame Mosque in Na’in.

Day 7: Friday 13th April 2018. Isfahan city tour

Spend today exploring this remarkable city with our guide, including Royal Square, Sheikh Lotfallah Mosque, Imam mosque, Ali Qapou Palace and Chehelsotun Palace. In the afternoon we also treat ourselves to a little shopping time.

Day 8: Saturday 14th April 2018. Isfahan city tour.

Another day to explore this fascinating city, with a visit to the Armenian district, Vank Cathedral and Museum, Jame Mosque and the historical bridges.

Day 9: Sunday 15th April 2018. Isfahan to Abyaneh

Today we leave Isfahan in our private coach to drive 180km to the historical UNESCO protected village of Abyaneh, stopping on the way at Natanz to visit the Jame Mosque.

Day 10: Monday 16th April 2018. Abyaneh to Tehran.

After looking around Abyaneh we drive 320km to Iran’s capital Tehran, stopping on the way at Kashan to visit Fin garden and Borujerdi House.

Day 11: Tuesday 17th April 2018. Tehran

We spend our final day in Iran with a guided tour of the capital Tehran, including the National Museum, the Islamic Persia Museum and Golestan Palace.

Day 12: Wednesday 18th April 2018. Return flight.

Transfer from hotel to Tehran airport to check in for Turkish Airlines flight to London Heathrow, departing Tehran at 03:25 and arriving at Heathrow at 10:00 (stopover in Istanbul)

Visa: The Iranian embassy in London is now issuing visa for British citizens. Other nationalities please get in touch. Following your booking confirmation we will provide you with a visa invitation number and instructions on how to apply.

Passport: On arrival at hotels leave your passports with reception until check out day. In some cases hotels do not ask for the passports but please be informed about this.

Money: ATM, credit cards and traveler checks are not accepted in Iran and for your personal expenses; bringing cash is recommended (Euro or USD). We suggest changing money at exchange offices, not hotels. Only in some special galleries in Isfahan can you use your credit card for purchases over 300 Euros.

Photography: In Iran taking photos of military bases and police stations is not allowed; when in some places photography is not permitted the guide will inform you. Flash light photography inside buildings like mosques, fire temples, churches, palaces and museums is not allowed in Iran. There are also restrictions on tripod photography in certain places – check with your guide.

Dress: Men should wear long trousers or jeans. Ladies should wear a head scarf, long trousers or jeans, and long sleeve dresses that are not transparent. In the shrine in Qom ladies should wear “Chador”-a long covering dress for whole body. Taking any kind of backpack inside Persepolis is not allowed.

  • Camera fees at monuments and other places of interest.
  • Travel Insurance: It is essential to have adequate travel insurance in place before your departure. This should be appropriate for your age, health and destination you are visiting.

Balance payments will be due 8 weeks before departure. You can make the deposit payment by debit card or electronic transfers to our bank. Credit card payment will be charge at 2% extra. When the tour is full we will take about 5 additional names on the waiting list to replace their booking with any cancellations etc.
