The Source of Yoga

The disciplines of yoga tap the streams of life within us,
yielding benefits of physical mental and spiritual health. The
traditions of yoga are founded and sustained in India's sacred places,
where the flow of holy waters seems to cleanse the soul. This tour is
centred on two of the most important and ancient places which make up
India's sacred geography.

At Rishikesh the Ganges flows blue and strong out of the mountains,
to begin its long journey across the Indian plain. This small
town is dotted about with dozens of ashrams, and the streets and
river bank are always full of itinerant sadhus.

Here you join the renowned Sivananda ashram for three days of
concentrated yoga practice, with individual teaching, and the
opportunity to observe nightly arti ceremonies by the river.

Following a long but comfortable first class train journey you
reach the sacred city of Varanasi for a further three days of personal
yoga tuition. In Varanasi you also visit the famous bathing ghats, and
nearby Sarnath, sacred to the memory of Lord Buddha.
